Our customers
The tenants of the caverns are well-known gas trading companies as well as oil stockpiling organizations from various European countries. Among others, part of the German crude oil reserves as well as those of various neighboring countries are stored in Etzel.
Thanks to its strategically favourable location and good connections to Europe's oil and gas infrastructure, the Etzel cavern storage facility is a practical model of success for European cooperation.

Technical Service Provider Etzel Gas-Lager I Process management for FSG "Crystal"
Since the commissioning of the Etzel Gas-Lager (EGL) in the early 1990s, STORAG ETZEL has also been a technical service provider for the operator Equinor Storage Deutschland GmbH. The daily operation of the EGL is controlled via the central control room at the site.
Since August 2024, we have also taken over the process management of the above-ground facility at our long-standing customer Friedeburger Speicherbetriebsgesellschaft mbH ‘Crystal’ (FSG ‘Crystal’). From this point onwards, the gas operating plant will be monitored and controlled 24/7 by STORAG ETZEL's central control room at the site. The process plant has been in operation since 2012.
